The company started franchising in 1996 when we launched The Fudge
Factory – a concept which we imported from the USA – in South
Africa. The first
Chocolate
Café
(incorporating The Fudge Factory) opened in South Africa at Somerset
Mall on 10 February 2006.
To
differentiate the
Chocolate Café
in a very real way from the plethora of coffee shops out in the
market, we have ensured that each
Chocolate Café
will have a
Fudge Factory inside, so customers will be able to sit and watch the
fudge being made while sipping their coffee,
Hot Chocolate
or Iced Cappuccino. Furthermore, we will be concentrating on all
things
CHOCOLATE!
We will have a
Chocolate
Fountain running in the store at all times so customers can dip
fresh strawberries or bananas (or anything else for that matter!)
With their drinks, customers will be able to choose from a range of
imported
Belgian Chocolates,
Home-made Truffles,
Chocolate
Cake,
Choc-Chip
Muffins or Cookies. It goes without saying that we will also be
serving high quality coffee and cappuccinos such as you would expect
in any other coffee shop of repute. Another novelty will be our
FUDGE FONDUE, where customers can choose their own flavour of fudge
to be melted down for a dipper’s delight!.
The Franchisors have over ten years’ experience in the franchising industry and will be assisting with setup and training through a network of preferred suppliers. Initial training is given in a company store, and then ongoing training takes place in the franchisee store.
Depending on the size of the actual store, the costs will range between R550 000 and R750 000. This includes an initial franchise fee of R75000. The royalty fee is 7% on turnover, payable monthly. |
